The Asia Pacific Initiative (API) hosted a roundtable with Clingendael's General Director Monika Sie Dhian Ho and Senior Research Fellow Maaike Okano-Heijmans in Tokyo. The API is a program of the International House of Japan, a non-profit organisation. Discussed was how Clingendael publications and recommendations compare to those of the API and how Japan and the Netherlands can better align their policies to secure shared interests.
Okano-Heijmans and Sie Dhian Ho presented findings on economic security in Europe and engaged with experts of The Institute of Geoeconomics (IoG) on their survey of 100+ companies on economic security. Special attention was given to the results of the Clingendael Foreign Affairs Barometer, in which Dutch citizens express their concerns and hopes on international issues. After the presentation, there was a vibrant exchange of ideas by all present. API regularly organizes these types of roundtables to engage in dialogue about international policy.
